This mural was a private commission for Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Central Indiana.  According to the artists, BBBSCI wanted more than decoration for their building: they wanted to utilize the opportunity to add something meaningful to the community. They engaged the artists to create a little reminder that we all share this place and we can make it what we want it to be when we give what we have to offer. The “share your light” message is therefore doubly important, as it is more than just an exhortation for all Indy residents to do good in the world. The organization commissioning it shared their own light by bringing into being.
