This mural was developed by Gallery Elysian (artist Jonatan Espinoza and facilitator Daniel Gupta) and fabricated by artist Quincy Owens. The concept ties in aspects of local identity and culture, as well as urban and historical features inspired by the location of the project along the Monon Trail. Geometric composition, purity of lines that refer to urban configurations and gridded environments, the use of metal as an industrial material, and vibrant colors all contribute to the mural’s striking effect, while including human and natural references to celebrate the abundance of nature in Indianapolis.
Lead artist Jonatan Espinoza is deeply influenced by Picasso’s Cubism, Surrealism, and Pop art. His work has been featured in galleries across Nicaragua, including the prestigious Palace of Culture and various art galleries in Granada as well as in the United States. Daniel Gupta owns and manages Bloomington, IN-based Gallery Elysian as both a cultural-charitable nonprofit and a business venture designed to highlight lesser-exposed artists from around the world and bring them to Indiana. Quincy Owens is an artist, fabricator, and art consultant.
