Progress House staff, board members, and current residents worked with designers from MKSK and the Indiana Historical Society to create this unique and vibrant pocket park that serves the immediate needs of Progress House residents, but which they hope will serve as a community space for Irish Hill community residents as well. The theme of the design is the “Twelve Steps,” a progressive journey towards addiction recovery leading to a complete mental, emotional, and spiritual shift in perception.

This project was part of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful’s AES Indiana Project GreenSpace program, which transforms vacant lots and underused spaces into natural, beautiful, and functional pocket parks and greenspaces. KIB works with neighborhood groups and organizations around Marion County to add native landscapes and strengthen community bonds. Community-created and maintained parks build connections for a healthy neighborhood and the native landscapes that benefit people and wildlife.
