Trying to imagine that this adventure, through the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship program, did not and does not have lasting impressions on my life is impossible.
Kevin began his renewal experience on Christmas Day 2011 when he flew to Madrid, Spain with his son Sean, age 12. "Sean and I will always have this time together." He traveled to Europe to experience the art, architecture, history, and especially the landscape of "this unknown, to me, magical place." His geographic focus was Spain, France, Italy, and Morocco.
Kevin and his son walked historic city streets, visited the Museo del Prado and Picasso's Guernica, and had tea in Tangiers. They strolled through public gardens and parks, and enjoyed local cuisine. They took the train to Paris where he visited the Louvre and the Left Bank as well as the Mus•e du Luxembourg with side trips to the gardens of Giverny and Versailles. The two • father and son created many memories and learned to "let go of the fear of the unknown." The adventure finished in Rome where they visited the Vatican, ancient ruins, and the Colosseum before flying home. "Coming home I felt and still feel bolder, more confident, and wiser with new images and ideas in my library of experience shaping my professional and personal life. I grew."
